Rock 'n' roll icon Darlene Love to return to New Jersey
A rock 'n' roll icon is bringing her voice to New Jersey.
Darlene Love will be performing Thursday, June 9 at the Union County Performing Arts Center in Rahway.
Love, a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,  is best known for her 1960s-era collaborations with producer Phil Spector, including Spector's famed Christmas album for which Love recorded her classic "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home."
Love will be performing hits and favorite covers from throughout her career.
"When I go see a performer, I want to hear the songs that I knew them by...whatever they recorded when I was coming up, that's the songs I'm going to hear them sing. And it really makes me mad when they put them in a medley," she says.
Love says expect to hear full versions of "He's A Rebel," "He's Sure The Boy I Love," and other songs that are a big part of her catalog.
Love, who says she gets up at 5 a.m. three times a week for kickboxing classes,  continues to tour regularly. At age 80, says she is grateful that her health and voice have enabled her to do so.
"I always tell my audience that this is a gift to me from God. That I've lasted 50 years and my voice has held me all these years."
