A new monthly market place opened for the first time in Bunkerville on Wednesday, May 25 at the Bunkerville Community Center at 150 W. Virgin Street.

The initiator and motivator of the market is Cally Wade of Moapa. Wade said that she misses the Farmers Market that was once in Mesquite.

Wade has already initiated a regular farmers market event in the Moapa Valley. So she got busy and found the Bunkerville Community Center. This seemed an ideal venue, she said, allowing for some vendors to be indoors, in the heat of the summer.

“We are booked through the end of the year on the fourthWednesday of each month,” Wade said. “We will see how it goes.”

There were approximately sixteen vendors at the first market on Wednesday. These included a fresh produce stand, honey and fruit stand, Alohi Gold apparel, Mary Kaye cosmetics, Tupperware, wrapped home-baked goodies and more.

One of vendor’s was 13-year-old Teagan Stephenson who was accompanied to the market by her mom. Teagan is a student of dance and has been accepted by the Studio B Dance Competition Team. Wanting to contribute to the expense of being on the team, she began making and selling doggie treats, called Tail Waggers. Later, she added some self-made jewelry items to her inventory. Mom says she has been very successful so far and has raised over $1,000.

Wade said that she hopes the market will catch on and expand. “We expect to have more produce vendors and food trucks at our next second Wednesday market place,” she said. “We are open to all types of vendors, as we want to have a variety of items.”

Shoppers Donna Connell and Diane McCashland, said they were happy to have a market place to shop in. We have so few places in town.

“We are working on getting more vendors in Bunkerville,” Wade said. “We want to grow and fulfill a community need. Also, we are working on a program for Bunkerville and Moapa to initiate a hands-on family arts and craft center at each location.”

The Bunkerville Fourth Wednesday Marketplace at the Bunkerville community center will be open from 4-8 pm each month.

The Moapa Second-Saturday Marketplace currently held at the Old Logandale School is open 8 am to noon. In July the Saturday Marketplace will move to the Fine Arts Building at the Clark County Fairgrounds at 8 am to noon.

    1. Hello Kelly Anne,
The Bunkerville Market is now Mesquite Farmers Market, it will be held Dec. 21.
At the Mesquite Welcome Center. If you look on our website under the calendar tab, there is a flyer you can see that gives all the details.
Thanks so much for reading the Mesa Valleys Progress.
