Manchester United have confirmed that Juan Mata will leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Mata joined the club from Chelsea all the way back in January 2014 and made a promising start to his United career.

At the end of the 2015/16 season he scored a vital equaliser in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace that sent the game to extra time. During the additional period Jesse Lingard would net a sumptuous winner.

The following campaign Mata would add three more trophies to his cabinet: the Community Shield, EFL Cup and Europa League.

In more recent years, the veteran Spaniard has been reduced to a bit-part role, though he has remained a popular figure among the fans.

Mata departs United having made 285 appearances and scoring 51 goals. His last outing in a Red Devils shirt came in a disappointing final day defeat against Crystal Palace.
