Independent candidate brings contest to commissioner race

An independent candidate has joined the commissioner race for the new District 6 seat, which covers Lexington, Croswell and Lexington Township. Evans Ehardt, 35 years-old and a former corrections officer for the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department, will not be appearing on the August ballot, but his name will be on November’s ballot, where he’ll face off with democratic candidate Geoff Angus for the position.

This makes for the second contest of the commissioner race, with the first being between incumbent Gary Heberling and former Sanilac County Clerk Denise McGuire for District 3’s seat. District 3 encompasses Sandusky, as well as the townships of Custer, Moore and Watertown.
