Gregor Kobel is confident that Borussia Dortmund can fight for titles next season despite the departure of Erling Haaland to Manchester City.

Erling Haaland will be making the switch to Manchester City this summer, bringing down the curtain on his two and a half year long stint with Borussia Dortmund. Gregor Kobel believes that the Black and Yellows are losing one of the best strikers in the world in the Norwegian international. But he is confident that they will get by just fine without him.

In an interview with SportBILD, Kobel said:

"“We are losing one of the best strikers in the world in Erling. We’ve all seen what he can do. Nevertheless, we have great guys in the team and we have already shown this season that we can win games without him.”“With the new signings, we’re now adding even more quality. It all looks very good on paper, now we have to put it into practice.”"

Borussia Dortmund have been very busy in the transfer market, and have already bolstered their squad with a number of quality new signings. And a new striker is also set to arrive to replace Haaland.

Unlike Haaland, Kobel has no desire to leave Borussia Dortmund anytime soon. In fact, the Switzerland international hopes to emulate BVB legend Roman Weidenfeller and stay at the club for a very long time.

"“If at the end of my career I can say that I played 16 years at Borussia Dortmund like him (Weidenfeller), then I would be very happy at the end of my career.”"

Kobel is also looking forward to working with new Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic, and he is very determined to fight for titles next season.

"“For us as a team, the most important thing is to be measured on our performance in every game – because that’s the only thing that leads to success. If we manage to deliver a top performance every three days, we will also be successful.”“We’re going to switch off now and then come back with full vigour, enthusiasm, and energy and really attack next season.”"

Gregor Kobel was one of Borussia Dortmund’s top performers in the recently concluded season. The 24 year old delivered some exemplary performances between the sticks and showed just why the BVB bosses signed him from VfB Stuttgart last summer. And he will certainly have a key role to play if Dortmund are to take the fight to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga next season.
