Trinidad And Tobago Discontinues Travel Pass And Testing Requirement

Following the discontinuation of the TT Travel Pass system on June 1, 2022, Trinidad and Tobago’s Minister of Health has announced that as of July 1, travelers will no longer be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh said “The Honourable Acting Prime Minister Colm Imbert has authorised me to advise the country that as Friday 1 July (the day after tomorrow) the need for PCR /Antigen testing to enter Trinidad and Tobago will be stopped.” Prior to this, travelers entering Trinidad and Tobogao needed to either provide a negative PCR or antigen test. If they no test was provided before travel, passengers could enter a state approved quarantine facility to have a test done at the traveler’s expense.

Travel Pass system was discontinued on June 1 citing a plateauing in the number of COVID-19 cases, along with other supporting regional and international data. In an earlier press conference, Minister Deyalsingh noted that cases have leveled off to around 200 cases per day, saying that they “are seeing a waning of this acute phase of the pandemic”, but reminded travelers and citizens that COVID-19 pandemic is still not over.

At this stage, the only policy still in place is the use of face masks. Travelers will only be required to wear masks if they are flying into Trinidad and Tobago, or on certain outbound flights (depending on the airline and destination).
