The Eureka Resort hosted UN-Corked, a wine tasting and appetizers event held on Friday, May 27 in the Town Square area of the casino. The event, which was a fundraiser for the Make-a-Wish foundation, was organized by Eureka’s Community Initiative Director Gerri Chasko.

The room was packed with jolly, fun-loving people each of whom had donated $40 to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. They were having a good-time tasting the different wines. The wine vendors donated their product and their time. The wonderful appetizers were made by the Eureka’s in-house Food and Beverage Team.

The Jack De Luc Band kept the music flowing and the dancers dancing. The band did stop playing long enough to announce and sing “Happy Birthday” to Chasko.
“We are having a great time,” said guest Wade Owsley who came with his wife Diane. “We will be sure and come again next year.”
“By next year I will know how to dance,” Wade added. “I wish I could be dancing now.”

The glamorous Mesquite Show Girls were greeting guests in their best dance-hall-girl attire. Yellowpix.com was there to capture the fun, with his fun photos.

The fundraiser was to help the Make a Wish foundation in granting wishes to young people who are struggling because of serious health issues.

Local resident 15-year-old Ashley, sufferer of Cystic Fibrosis, was a recipient of the Make-a-Wish Foundation and was granted a wish in 2021. Her wish was to have a virtual shopping spree (Virtual because of COVID-19) for her then-upcoming Quinciñera Celebration. After her purchases arrived, Ashley and her family were treated to dinner at the “Top of the World Restaurant” at the Stratosphere in Las Vegas.

Chasko said that Eureka President and CEO, Andre Carrier, had told her “Let’s do a Pay-it-Forward fundraiser for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.”

Eureka is frequently active in contributing to the local community, Chasko said. “There were approximately 150 smiling faces at the event,” Chasko said. “We are proud to partner with Make a Wish Southern Nevada and hope to do more with them in the future.

“I want to thank our Food & Beverage Department, Robert Montoya and everyone that helped us with this event,” Chasko said.
