Eva Longoria, Paris Jackson, and Questlove Kicked off Summer in Montauk
Out east, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer. Local hotspots reopen their doors and decks, ready to reunite with seasonal guests who are eager to embrace the sun, sand, and salty air. Straight from the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival, Eva Longoria touched down at “The End of the World” for a fun-filled lineup of events to celebrate Casa Del Sol’s debut at Montauk’s most-loved boutique hotel, The Surf Lodge, and Bounce’s Hamptons outpost.
Born out of a desire to produce authentically Mexican tequila while simultaneously rewriting the male-focused gaze on tequila, Casa Del Sol is a spirit for women made by women. “We were inspired by the goddess of tequila, Mayahuel,” Mariana Padilla, the brand’s Artesana Tequileria, explained. “Women are the core of our brand, from our employees in the distillery to our president; we pride ourselves on being a female-first company.”
All Casa Del Sol tequilas are aged in cognac barrels, which contributes to the smooth taste, one that allows the notes of agave to shine through in stages. “The Casa Del Sol woman is independent and strong, just like our tequila. Not a lot of brands really appreciate the history and the art of tequila making and the people of the region who have been cultivating this process for generations,” Longoria explained. “We are proud that we finally found a distillery that is one-hundred percent Mexcian owned.”
The weekend’s festivities kicked off on Friday with a beachside bash at Bounce co-hosted by former NFL star Victor Cruz and Bachelor alum Tyler Cameron. Behind the bar, Longoria served up a mixologist lesson to cocktail waitresses dressed in this season’s groovy uniform designed by Nicole Miller.
After an overcast start to the holiday weekend, the sun arrived just in time for Casa Del Sol’s splashy dinner party at The Surf Lodge because no one does a summer soirée better than Jayma Cardoso. Out on the deck, which is newly outfitted in a vibrant mural by Brazilian street artist Tarsila Schubert, Aluna Francis of the electronic music duo AlunaGeorge warmed up the buzzy crowd before guests made their way to a secluded lakeside oasis for dinner.
Rosy bouquets, grassy umbrellas, and tequila sipping cups designed by famed Mexican ceramist Paco Padilla lined the long, candlelit table where guests were served a seasonal family-style meal curated by Argentinian Chef Noberto Piattoni and The Surf Lodge’s culinary director, Robert Sieber. Of course, the team topped off the night in true summer fashion with strawberries and cream for dessert. Leave it to The Surf Lodge to blend great hospitality and good fun without missing a beat.
On Sunday, Casa Del Sol hosted a splashy beach party at a private home nestled in the dunes. And since tequila is best paired with tacos, New York’s Borrachito Taqueria took a trip out east for the afternoon to cook their famous Mexican cuisine while Oli Benz took care of the soundtrack. Down on the beach, a chic lounge outfitted in mini-cabanas, rows of corn hole games, and hammocks awaited attendees.
And the fun didn’t stop there. Back at The Surf Lodge, Zegna arrived in style with a sleek gelato cart and trays filled with Aperol Spritz and Negronis for Sunday’s sunset session. This time, Oscar and Grammy-winner Questlove serenaded the lively crowd as the sun faded into the horizon over Lake Montauk.
The final stop on the Casa Del Sol tour was Stephen’s Talkhouse, Amagansett’s beloved live music venue, where Paris Jackson surprised everyone with a special performance. What a perfect way to end the extravagant weekend on a high note.
