COSHOCTON — One man died as the result of a single-vehicle crash Monday, and another was injured while riding an ATV.

The Coshocton County Sheriff's Office said the car crash occurred about 9:36 p.m. in the 3200 block of Ohio 60 in Clark Township. It was determined that Coy Phillips, 32, of Blissfield was traveling southbound when he failed to negotiate a curve.

The vehicle went off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail, went over the rail, struck a tree and came to rest at the bottom of an embankment. Phillips was pronounced dead on scene.

Assisting were the Walhonding Valley Fire District, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services, Coshocton County Coroner and Prince's Wrecker Service.

ATV crash

A Shreve man was injured in an ATV crash shortly before 6 p.m. Monday on Township Road 21 in Mill Creek Township.

The sheriff's office said Roger Rice, 54, was driving a Can-Am four-wheeler southbound when he lost control on the gravel road and went off the right side. He struck a sign and went up an embankment. This caused Rice to be ejected and the four-wheeler rolled over.

Rice was transported from the scene by MedFlight to Akron General Hospital for unknown injuries. Assisting on scene were Coshocton County EMS, Three Rivers Fire District and Prince's Wrecker.
