The two actors have departed Amazon Studios' ambitious drama series based on Naomi Alderman's 2016 sci-fi novel, EW has confirmed. Both roles will be recast and reshot. The 10-part series, which is finally in production after a long delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is set in a world where teenage girls everywhere develop the power to electrocute people at will. The Power will feature characters and locations across the globe, including London, Seattle, Nigeria, and Moldova. Mann boarded the project in October 2019. She was set to portray the leading role of Margot Cleary-Lopez, the mayor of Seattle who is described as being vital, charming, and incredibly smart. She's a wife and mother of three who finds that her power resides with strength instead of authority, and must grapple with the changes that her new political role will bring to her family. The Power will be directed by Emmy Award winner Reed Morano (The Handmaid's Tale) and boasts an all-female writers' room. It is being produced by Sister and executive-produced by Alderman.
