EastEnders spoilers follow.

Summer is almost upon us, and things are about to heat up in EastEnders.

A shocking accident, a life left hanging in the balance, two couples on the rocks and a heartbreaking realisation – here's our guide to some of the biggest storylines that will be airing over the next few weeks.

1. Linda and Janine have a shocking accident

As we've already revealed, Linda and Janine's ongoing feud is going to be the start of one of the biggest stories of the summer. And with June just around the corner, the drama will be ramping up a fair few notches over the coming weeks.

Scenes airing next week will see Linda discover the truth about Janine's devious antics in regards to Nancy's money. Panicked, Janine becomes determined to stop Linda telling Mick what really happened (why she didn't stop to consider this before is another matter entirely), and things soon spiral out of control.

As Janine races to stop Linda from revealing her secret to Mick, there's life-changing consequences when this ends in disaster.

Janine and Linda are in a precarious situation following the devastating events, and one life is hanging in the balance. Fans will have to keep an eye out for further details, but given that recent paparazzi pictures showed them arguing by a car, we'll let you fill in the blanks…

2. Kathy learns the truth

Ben will still be suffering in silence as we head into June, but it's not long before this sparks concern from those around him.

Although Kathy begins to grow frustrated with Ben's behaviour, Kheerat sees the situation slightly differently and can't help but become worried as well.

After Kheerat shares his concerns with Kathy she is left reeling from a devastating discovery.

Max Bowden – who plays Ben – said: "It becomes more and more apparent that something's not right. With Kathy, there's obviously that commonality and the fact that she was raped by James Wilmott-Brown. There's also a brotherhood with Jay, who can see through the mask as well. The people who know him best star to see something's not quite right.

"I think Kathy will be very important. There's been a kind of missing link for a while with Ben and Kathy, as there's been so much emphasis on the relationship between Ben and Phil for years that we've missed a lot of the Ben and Kathy elements that keep them fresh."

3. Stuart's story continues

Rainie now knows what's really going on with Stuart, but it's clear that their struggles are only just beginning.

Stuart is still feeling overwhelmed with his new responsibilities next month, leaving Rainie determined to help him.

It's not long before Vi discovers the truth as well, but will she help or hinder the situation?

4. Lewis gets a warning

As Ben starts to find his voice, Lewis could find his days in Walford numbered.

Lewis will be rattled when he gets a warning he can't ignore next month. But in a somewhat unsettling twist, he turns to Callum for advice...

5. Nancy and Zack hit the rocks

Their relationship has been going from strength to strength lately, but sadly, it's not likely be a summer of love for Nancy and Zack.

The couple have recently sealed their commitment to each other by embarking on a new venture, but future scenes will see Zack start to question his role in the business.

As more cracks start to appear in this already fragile relationship, one final twist could be the last nail in the coffin…

6. Ash hides a secret

Ash is back at the start of June, and she's bringing a secret home with her.

As Ash settles back into Walford life, it's not long before old tensions with her mum Suki bubble to the surface again.

Suki, who is hiding a secret of her own, soon grows suspicious of Ash's behaviour, but is shocked when she discovers what's really going on. What is Ash hiding and what will it mean for the Panesar family?

7. Walford gets a Royal visit

Of course, one of the most exciting moments in June will come as soon as next week, with a special jubilee episode.

A groundbreaking moment will see the Walford residents get a very royal visit in the form of Prince Charles and Camilla. Charles and Camilla visited the new EastEnders set back in March, but it's since been revealed that they also filmed some exciting scenes while they were there.

Speaking about the episode, Emma Barton – who plays Honey – said: "What an honour really. I'm thrilled to have been a part of this memorable day. A complete first in the land of soap.

"Honey was dressed as Ginger Spice for this episode. Obviously Honey would be very nervous, excited and also proud.. which wasn't too far off how 'Emma' was feeling!"

Lorraine Stanley, who plays Karen, added: "The scene felt very real. I know she [Camilla] does a lot of work to raise awareness of domestic violence so my character had that connection. It worked very well. "

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. All episode are also available to watch via BBC iPlayer.
