Liverpool's team bus arrives LATE at the Stade de France for Champions League final after being stuck in a traffic jam in Paris... with Jurgen Klopp's Reds turning up 20 minutes after rivals Real Madrid

Liverpool's preparations for the Champions League final hit a literal road block as their team bus got stuck in a traffic jam ahead of the game.

The Reds found themselves at a standstill on the roads of Paris as they made their way to the Stade de France, which is located just north of the city.

They will hope it does not foreshadow a tricky night against 13-time champions Real Madrid, who had a smooth journey to the stadium.

Jurgen Klopp's side ended up arriving at the Stade de France 20 minutes after their opponents, who were already out familiarising themselves with the pitch.

'Everton fans get everywhere!' BT Sport host Jake Humphrey joked on the broadcaster's coverage.

'In this day and age you should be able to get to the ground,' Peter Crouch added. 'We struggled as well, good to see the Liverpool team had the same problem!'

The Reds eventually arrived at the stadium, but 20 minutes after opponents Real Madrid

There will be questions raised over the efficiency of the team's police escort, which is supposed to ensure safe passage to the ground.

Preparations for this year's final have been rushed, with the Stade de France only confirmed as the venue in February after Russia's invasion of Ukraine prompted UEFA to move the game from St Petersburg.

Kick-off was eventually delayed by 15 minutes following chaos outside the stadium as supporters struggled to get in.

It has been reported that hundreds of fans without tickets have been able to force their way through screening outside the ground in Paris. While they may not be inside the stadium, they will have access to its surroundings.

As a result, a bottleneck is also said to have built up on the way to Gate U, and issues with public transport across Paris also disrupted the journeys for many fans throughout the day.

Madrid were already familiarising themselves with the pitch when Liverpool finally arrived

Speaking to AP while queuing, a fan said: 'It's absolutely horrendous.

'There's a bottleneck down there and there's literally a six-foot gap for maybe 20,000 Liverpool fans to get in.

'We are absolutely being pushed from pillar to post. I have an 82-year-old father in law here. It's just madness. I'm really sorry but there are just thousands behind us.'

Meanwhile, Gary Lineker said the chaos outside the venue was 'carnage'.

He tweeted: 'Finding it impossible to get in the ground. This appears to be very dangerous. Absolute carnage.'
