John Barnes insists he is 'not worried at all' about Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino entering the final year of their Liverpool deals - as club legend believes trio won't leave this summer and points to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz for a bright future

  • Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all have a year left on their contracts
  • Firmino has stated his desire to remain at Liverpool beyond his current contract
  • Salah has declared that he will be playing his football at Anfield next season
  • Bayern Munich target Sadio Mane will reveal his future after Liverpool's Champions League final against Real Madrid on Saturday night

Liverpool legend John Barnes is confident that the club won't lose all parts of their tried-and-trusted fearsome frontline this summer - despite Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all approaching the final year of their contracts.

The trio have been mainstays of Jurgen Klopp's side - winning a plethora of trophies along the way as the Reds have returned to the summit of English and European football.

However, their futures are all in doubt with their deals at the Anfield outfit expiring at the end of next season.

All three have spoken about contractual situations this week in the build up to Saturday's Champions League final against Real Madrid - with Firmino stating he wishes to extend his stay, Salah declaring he'll be at Liverpool next season while Mane says he'll reveal his plans after the showdown at the Stade de France in Paris.

Klopp has already begun the next cycle of his frontline by signing Diogo Jota last summer and Luis Diaz, and Barnes - who scored 106 goals in 403 games for the club and won five major trophies there - points to these additions as another reason why he doesn't believe there'll be a big upheaval at Merseyside.

'Well, you've got Jota, and you've got Diaz who are much younger in the team and the three of them are all not going to go in one window so I'm not worried at all,' he told Sportsmail exclusively at an Evening with the Liverpool Masters on behalf of Gambling.com.

'So as you can see, we've got five players there now. Divock Origi is going but we've still got [Takumi] Minamino and others who can play in those positions so I'm not worried at all.

'I do know because of the way Jurgen Klopp is, and the kind of template that he wants, that we can get a player like Diaz who is not going to cost you £100million but fit into what we want and be successful.

'So, if we lose players we can always replace them. Other clubs can't do that because they look at it from a fan perspective that unless Manchester City and Manchester United are making a signing that's costing £80m then it's very negative.

'Whereas we can sign players for £20-30m and we're happy because we know they can fix it to what we want.

'So we're very fortunate that the way the manager wants to play doesn't cost hundreds of millions of pounds to get the players in to actually maintain that success.'

German reports have suggested that Mane will say 'goodbye' to the Reds after the Champions League final with Real Madrid on Saturday.

Speaking this week when quizzed about his future on Merseyside, Bayern Munich target Mane said he would reveal his future after the Champions League final.

He said: 'For sure it will be special to win it, and make it seven (European Cup wins for the club). And this question (my future) I will answer after the Champions League. Stay or not - I'll answer after the Champions League.'

Salah took a different approach to Mane, looking to address his future head on to ease the concern of supporters.

'In my mind, I don't focus on the contract,' Salah said this week.

Salah has confirmed he will be staying 'for sure' next season at Liverpool - allaying any fears

'I don't want to be selfish. I said that two months ago: it is about the team now. I am just focused with the team. I want to win the Champions League again. I want to see Hendo with the trophy again and hopefully he will give it to me after (he lifts it).

'But I am staying (here) next season, for sure - I'm staying next season.'

Meanwhile, Firmino has distanced himself from an exit at Anfield.

Speaking to TNT Sport, he said: 'I'm very happy here. I'm grateful to God that I'm here playing for a great club with great players, winning titles. And my will is to stay.

'My wish is to stay here. I want to be here. I'm happy here. So that's all I can say, I want to stay.'
