CHAT PILE Announces New Album God's Country, Drops Bloody Brutal Single "Slaughterhouse"

A mechanical form of anger.

The insane new video for “Slaughterhouse,” the latest single from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma’s grunge-sludge hooligans du jour, Chat Pile, is 100 percent trailer park-hot phantasmagoria laid clean on a pagan’s altar. You can check it out above. A visually stark and powerful femininity is fused literally with a hardcore blood ritual, and the optics move terminally to Chat Pile’s soundtrack that traces the bloodlines of Unsane, Helmet, and Pissed Jeans. I'd evoke the glorious gentlemen of The Jesus Lizard, too, but Chat Pile , frankly, is just too damn scuzzy to let David Yow and Co. through the door. Let that sink in for a minute, if you know what I mean.

God’s Country, the first full length record from Chat Pile, is being billed as a brutal expression of fatalistic pandemic fatigue, exasperation from inaction on climate change, and a Southwest perspective on global capitalism. Or, in the words of the band,  God’s Country snarls and sneers with, “Oklahoma’s specific brand of misery.”

By most measures, Chat Pile are still hungry upstarts, but nonetheless, they have been turning heads since forming in 2019. Vocalist Raygun Busch, guitarist Luther Manhole, bassist Stin, and drummer Captain Ron (Drums), released two EPs—This Dungeon Earth and Remove Your Skin Please—before diving head first into a series of profiled live performances, which only intensified their online buzz further.

God's Country is available for pre-order here, and more news and singles are set to arrive soon from the album, so keep your eyes peeled to their Bandcamp page for updates. And if you’re in the Midwest this weekend looking for a pit to tear up, you can catch the band live for a handful of dates.
