Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals between the New York Rangers and the Carolina Hurricanes will take place on Sunday. Both teams have struggled to break the other's home-ice advantage in this series with the home team winning by two goals or more in each of the last four games of the series. The Hurricanes now have a 3-2 advantage in the series and can advance in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs if they can finally get over the hump on the road.

Saturday's contest will be played at Madison Square Garden in New York City and puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. New York is a slight -115 favorite (risk $115 to win $100) while Carolina is listed as  the -105 underdog in the latest Rangers vs. Hurricanes odds from Caesars Sportsbook. The over-under for total goals is listed at 5.5. Before making any Hurricanes vs. Rangers picks, check out the Game 6 predictions from NHL insider Matt Severance.

Why you should back the Rangers

The Rangers are coming off a Game 5 loss where they were thoroughly beaten by the Hurricanes, getting outshot 34-17 on the way to a 3-1 defeat. However, this has been an entirely different team within the confines of Madison Square Garden and the Hurricanes have been abysmal on the road.

After losing a triple-overtime thriller in Game 1 of their series against the Penguins, the Rangers have gone on to win their last five games at home and won by multiple goals in four of those victories. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have lost every road game they've played this postseason by multiple goals. With Shesterkin standing on his head throughout this postseason, he should be able to buy time for New York's devastating power play to produce enough to win the game.

Why you should back the Hurricanes

However, the Hurricanes will have some momentum coming off their Game 5 win back in Carolina to take a 3-2 series lead. The Rangers couldn't mount anything offensively in that contest, putting just 17 shots on net with Antti Raanta turning away 16 of those attempts in a 3-1 win.

Despite scoring a goal, it was a tough night for Mika Zibanejad who had a 5-on-5 Corsi For percentage of just 27.6 for the game. The Hurricanes will look to tie up Zibanejad similarly in Game 6 and if they can continue to limit New York's big three of Zibanejad, Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider, they should maintain the upper hand in the series.
