Ed Coleman retired from the Mets beat at WFAN and WCBS 880 prior to this season, and the team will honor Eddie C prior to Saturday night’s game with the Phillies.

Coleman, who was with WFAN from Day 1 and had covered the Mets since 1993, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the 7:15 p.m. game, and is scheduled to receive a custom jersey, to be presented by manager Buck Showalter.

It’s an event 30 years in the making, literally, which led Ron Darling to showcase the Mets’ family love during Friday night’s SNY broadcast:

“This team now doesn't miss too many opportunities to honor people who have spent a lot of time around this ballpark,” Darling said.

Saturday’s Mets-Phillies game can be heard, as always, on WCBS 880 AM. Congrats, Eddie C!
