Update--11:51 a.m. - The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says the Salina County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance investigating an officer-involved shooting around 10:50 Friday night.

The KBI believes that around 10:20 p.m., two deputies with the Saline County Sheriff’s Office traveled to a home at 2708 S. Holmes Road to serve an arrest warrant to Dustin Vance, 42, of Hoisington.

The arrest warrant was issued through the Barton County District Court for the charges of rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, and contributing to a child’s misconduct.

The KBI says as the deputies approached the house, Vance was on the front porch, armed with a holstered handgun. The KBI says Vance drew his gun despite the deputy’s verbal commands. One deputy fired multiple shots and struck Vance.

EMS declared Vance deceased at the residence.

The KBI says two other subjects were inside the home. A 41-year-old woman from Salina was near the porch and was struck by one of the rounds fired. Deputies rendered aid to her, and EMS transported her to Salina Regional Health Center, where she’s currently in stable condition and is expected to recover.

The KBI says the investigation is ongoing. Afterward, it will forward the findings to the Saline County Attorney.
