Champions League final pitch fears ahead of Liverpool against Real Madrid after it only got relaid on THURSDAY

JURGEN KLOPP was left stunned after discovering the Stade de France has a new pitch.

The Liverpool boss was unimpressed when discovering the surface was only laid on Thursday after the venue staged a concert last Saturday.

Klopp said: “Usually when they say the pitch is new, it is good news. This pitch is new since yesterday which is not the best news for both teams.

"I have no idea how it will be. Maybe it is perfect but it does not look perfect.

Liverpool will want the pitch to be in the best condition possible in order to overcome the obstacle formed by Real Madrid.

Madrid won the last time the two teams in the final in 2018, courtesy of a brace of errors from Loris Karius and a Gareth Bale bicycle kick which ensured a 3-1 victory for Madrid.

Klopp added: “Someone thought it was a good idea to bring a pitch the day before at the stadium. That is interesting. It did not kill my mood. I am happy and we would play on concrete.

“You can see the lines where they put out pitch in and that is not what we are used to. Both teams play on the same pitch.

“In dreamland, the pitch is the best you ever saw but that is obviously not the case. The referees were training and at least I saw the ball bouncing.”

This being said, Liverpool have already trained on the pitch, with Sadio Mane being involved in a particularly funny altercation.

Victory against Madrid will see Liverpool complete a cup treble for the season after beating Chelsea on penalties in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

It is Liverpool's third Champions League final under Klopp, and he will want to go two from three rather than give Madrid a 14th title.

They narrowly missed out on the Premier League as Manchester City overcome a two-goal deficit in the final 15 minutes against Aston Villa to beat clinch the title by one point.
