Black Adam is probably the upcoming DC film that we know most about, thanks to Dwayne Johnson's trademark lengthy Instagram posts, but we hadn't seen all that much in terms of footage.

Until now. None other than Johnson has unveiled a full trailer in one of his trademark social media posts.

You can watch it above, or check it out again right here:

The caption on his Instagram post for the actual trailer was far more circumspect than the tease. He wrote: "As promised, our world premiere @blackadammovie trailer. This passion project has become my DNA and the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe will change.

"The world needed a hero. It got BLACK ADAM⚡️ Rage."

A previous post teasing the premiere of the trailer read: "This is my second film with my director Jaume Collet-Serra. Our first collaboration was Jungle Cruise, so we love taking big swings for our global audience. He always finds the heart and soul in our stories. The mana.

"In 2018, we agreed to make Black Adam together to create a new paradigm for the antihero. Jaume said 'Let's make Black Adam the Dirty Harry of all superheroes and some supervillains. A ruthless, unstoppable God who lives by a code to protect his family and his people. World Premiere Trailer of Black Adam drops June 8."

Johnson's anti-hero is basically the evil version of Shazam, and the actor has teased that he might square off against Superman one day, which wouldn't be as one-sided as you think as one of Superman's weaknesses is magic, which Black Adam uses.

"I don't know who that Superman is going to be, and I don't know who's going to play him," Johnson said. "That's OK. I don't need to know right now. But I'm confident in knowing that. And that's based out of what fans want."

Black Adam is set for release in cinemas on October 21.

Joe Anderton is a freelance news writer and resident Welsh person at Digital Spy, having worked there since 2016.

In his time he's covered a host of live events, interviewed celebrities big and small and crowbarred a countless amount of great/awful (delete as appropriate) puns into articles.

A big fan of TV and movies both mainstream and obscure, Joe's main interest is in video gaming. Although particularly a PlayStation gamer, he plays across Xbox, Nintendo and PC/Steam Deck, and likes to keep tabs on many games he's not got the time to play.

Joe currently does not use Twitter, but he only ever used it to tell people to watch the film Help! I'm a Fish (which you really should do).
