Harbor Springs celebrates the Class of 2022

HARBOR SPRINGS — Graduating seniors Megan Novak, Mackenzie Radle and Lance Smar will all share the title of valedictorian for Harbor Springs High School this year, and Bella Taylor is the Class of 2022’s salutatorian.

Megan Novak is the daughter of Mark and Diane Novak. She will graduate with a 4.0 grade point average.

While in high school, Megan was active in the National Honor Society, student council, Michigan Youth in Government and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She also took part in band, swimming, soccer and volleyball.

After graduation, Megan plans to attend the University of Michigan to pursue a degree in chemistry.

Mackenzie Radle

Mackenzie Radle is the daughter of Jeff and Katie Radle. She will graduate with a 4.0 grade point average.

While in high school, Mackenzie was active in student council, the National Honor Society, Key Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters. She also played varsity tennis.

After graduation, Mackenzie plans to attend the University of Michigan.

Lance Smar

Lance Smar is the son of James Smar and MaryAnn Phillippi. He will graduate with a 4.0 grade point average.

While in high school, Lance took part in track and field, cross country, swim team and ski team.

After graduation, Lance plans to attend the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan.

Bella Taylor

Bella Taylor is the daughter of Robert and Sonya Taylor. She will graduate with a 3.99 grade point average.

Among her extracurricular activities, Bella danced for the past 14 years, including five years of competitive dance. She participated on student council all four years of high school (as freshman class president, as a representative for two years, and as executive secretary), the National Honor Society for junior and senior years (as representative and vice president), the Big Brother Big Sister program and the watershed program. 

After graduation, Bella plans to attend Michigan State University to study both criminal justice and psychology in the hopes of securing a job as a criminal profiler in the FBI.

Harbor Springs High School will celebrate commencement at 2:30 p.m. on June 5.
