Darvin Ham spent the past four years as an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks, and so when news of his move to the Los Angeles Lakers as head coach surfaced, Giannis Antetokounmpo couldn't help but react.

While the Bucks would be sad to see a talented assistant coach go, Antetokounmpo shared his belief that Ham deserves the opportunity to coach at the highest level. He has never been in that position before, but Ham has already paid his dues and has the experience to take over a franchise like the Lakers.

“I’m so happy for him. He’s the right fit for them. He keeps it real with you. No BS at all. It’s about damn time. He deserves it more than anyone,” the Bucks star told ESPN.

Darvin Ham edged out Terry Stotts and Kenny Atkinson for the Lakers' head coaching job after a lengthy search process. However, it's not really a surprising decision considering that the former Bucks assistant won a championship with the team in 2021.

The 48-year-old coach is an established assistant, and clearly, the hiring by the Lakers had LeBron James' stamp of approval.

The Bucks, for their part, will have to look for a capable replacement for Ham in their coaching staff. Sure enough, that won't be an easy task.
