County students win scholarships

Four Butler County high school students were among nearly 3,100 winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the finalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.

Winners include Lachlan J. King of Butler who was home schooled and plans to pursue criminology with the aid of a Liberty University Scholarship.

Liberty University is a private, evangelical university dedicated to academic excellence and training champions for Christ.

Avani B. Salunkhe, a Cranberry Township resident and Seneca Valley High School graduate, plans to major in biology with the aid of a Penn State University scholarship.

Penn State offers a breadth of academic programs as diverse as the interests of its nearly 80,000 undergraduate and graduate students

Anoop A. Savio, a Cranberry Township resident and Seneca Valley High School graduate, plans to major in finance with the aid of a University of Florida scholarship.

The University of Florida is a public university of about 34,000 undergraduates in Gainesville.

Dorabella Lynn White, a Cranberry Township resident and Seneca Valley High School graduate, plans to major in astrophysics with the aid of a University of Texas scholarship.

The University of Texas at Dallas attracts a diverse group of nearly 30,000 students from over 100 countries.
