Alabaster City Schools no longer eligible for summer food program, alternatives offered
For the first time in eight years, Alabaster City Schools will no longer be able to participate in the Summer Food Program.The school system said it is no longer eligible to provide meals in the summer months due to data gathered during the 2020 census.ACS provided the following resources for families in need of food this summer:Alabama Childhood Food SolutionsShelby Baptist AssociationFirst Baptist Church-Alabaster Food Ministry, 205-663-3531Families can also apply for food benefits at Shelby County DHR by calling 205-669-3000 or at the office located at 987 AL-70 in Columbiana.
