SHE WAS FURLOUGHED FROM HER JOB AS A CHEF AS OMNI LOUISVILLE HOTEL WHILE SHE WAS AWAY. ESH WAS AROPPACHED BY FOOD NETWORK’S BEST BAKER IN AMERICA TO BE ON THE SHOW. SHE WTEN ON TO WIN THE COMPETITION. JUST COMING OFF THE SHOW. I THINK IT’S THAT NATURAL HIGH. IT’S GREAT TO HAVE THE ENERGY THE EXCITEMENT BUSINESS IS STARNGTI TO COME BACK CERTAINLY LEISURE TRAVEL HAS BEEN BACK FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, BUT NOW HOW HWEAVE CONVENTION TRAVEL. Jackie Joseph has her own business, proving dedication and perseverance can go a long way."Over the past couple of years, we have all just kind of had a bit of a struggle. I think I look at this now, and I'm just like overwhelmed with gratitude and thankfulness and just all the hard work has paid off," said Jackie Joseph, Chef and Owner of JJBakes & Co.Friday Joseph had a grand opening for her business JJBakes & Co. The pastry shop has everything from custom and specialty cakes to breakfast items and desserts."What I really want people to experience is as if you're stepping into someone's home. You're just welcomed with love and grace and gratitude," said Joseph.However, Joseph says it's taken a while to get to this point. During the pandemic she was furloughed from her job as a chef at Omni Louisville Hotel. While she was away, she was approached by Food Network's 'Best Baker in America' to be on the show. She went on to win the competition."Just coming off the show I think it's that natural high of just like the success and the winning of it, but then reality kind of sets in and it's kind of like what am I going to do next? Opening up my own business was really the only conclusion I could come up with," said Joseph.Now Joseph is back at The Omni but this time with her own business. The general manager of the hotel says it's great to have Joseph and others returning to Falls City Market."It's great to have the energy, the excitement. Businesses are starting to come back. Certainly leisure travel has been back for a long period of time, but now we have convention travelers coming in, people from out of town," said Eamon O'Brien, Omni Louisville Hotel General Manager.O'Brien says Omni Louisville is talking to more local companies about opportunities to add more businesses to Omni Louisville’s Kentucky marketplace.
