An EMT and Albany firefighter is accused of rape, sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Jevonte Osterhout, 30, is charged in connection with an incident that happened in January 2022.

At the time, he was employed as an EMT at the Bruen Rescue Squad, and as an Albany firefighter.

The Albany Permanent Professional Fire Fighters Association released this statement:

"Today we learned that serious and disturbing allegations have been reviewed by a grand jury in Rensselaer County and filed against Jevonte Osterhout.

According to a news release issued by the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s office, the alleged actions took place separately and apart from any duties as an Albany fire fighter.

Osterhout has been removed from the active duty roster and placed on administrative leave in keeping with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement."
