Bruins' Brad Marchand expected to miss six months after hip surgery

The Boston Bruins announced that four-time All-Star Brad Marchand is expected to be out six months after undergoing hip surgery on Friday

Marchand, 34, underwent successful hip arthroscopy and labral repair on both hips, according to the release from the Bruins.

The recovery timetable for Marchand means he'll likely miss the start of the 2022-23 season.

Marchand played 70 regular-season games for the Bruins last season, leading the team in assists (48) and points (80) while finishing second in goals (32).

The Bruins were eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs by the Carolina Hurricanes in seven games. Marchand played in all seven games, finishing with four goals and seven assists.

Marchand ranks among the top 10 in Bruins' history in several categories, including sixth all-time in goals (351), seventh in points (795), ninth in assists (444) and 10th in games played (874).

In 139 career playoff games for the Bruins, Marchand has recorded 49 goals and 69 assists.
