BBC Radio 4 presenter Melvyn Bragg compares 'cancel culture' to Hitler's rise to power

Broadcaster Melvyn Bragg last night likened cancel culture to the rise of Hitler in an attack on political correctness.
The BBC Radio 4 presenter, 82, told the Hay Festival: ‘You’re not allowed to talk about this or that because it is not politically correct and I am absolutely opposed to that. I think you’re allowed to talk about anything. Anything.’
Lord Bragg suggested that Hitler might have been halted in 1938 had there been free and open discussions about his policies. ‘We could have argued between ourselves, we’d have been active instead of bubbling it away, which we did. I know that’s an extreme example. Free speech is sacred and that’s it.’
