  He/she/they doesn't need to bump it, just read it but not participate. I have been doing that with old Borgen threads - I wouldn't dream of posting in them.

  Seems a bit silly not to bump it though if you want to discuss the show- after all, with streaming and DVDs etc. people may well discover TV shows at different times. Otherwise the person who wanted to discuss it would need to start a new thread.
