Buccaneers could see familiar face in Week 1 in cruel twist

The Buccaneers don’t have the space for Jason Pierre-Paul on their roster any longer, but that doesn’t mean they want to play against him in 2022.
When it’s all said and done, Jason Pierre-Paul is going to be one of the toughest departures of the offseason for the Buccaneers.
His addition by Jason Licht was one of the best moves by the fast-rising GM, and that decision played a huge role in turning the page on the woes of the 2010s in Tampa.
Still, there is no future for JPP in Tampa with guys like Joe Tryon-Shoyinka needing to step into a larger role this upcoming season, so this split was never something that should surprise anyone.
We just didn’t think that this could come back to bite the team in the first week of the season.
While nothing is set in stone yet, it stands to reason that JPP will find himself with a contender as a veteran in search of another ring before he retires. Unfortunately for the Bucs, there are a lot of contenders on their schedule, so Pierre-Paul could land with a number of their opponents.
According to ESPN, one such team could be the Dallas Cowboys.

They are making a "strong push" for former #Packers LB Za'Darius Smith, according to PFN.

The Cowboys have experienced both ends of the defensive extremes spectrum over the past two season, and the team should look to find some consistency under Dan Quinn and some veteran leaders.
It makes sense that JPP would fit with that group like a glove.
While not being able to play in the role like he used to, Pierre-Paul still brings something to the table on any defense and would be able to add to that pass rush. The Cowboys may like what they have with several quality options to choose from, but this is one of those positions where you can never have too many resources.
Again, nothing is set in stone yet, but it could add to JPP’s fire if he thinks that he could have a chance to stick it to his former team on the field during the first game of the season if he signs with the Cowboys.
This would hurt for the Buccaneers, but it still doesn’t change anything with the quality of their decision.
