"The Saints have been so successful for so long now. They're now a target," Garic said on SportsTalk along with Mike Detillier. "The national media in particular are actively rooting for their demise."

It's a front office that does things differently from many others, particularly when it comes to the draft. This year it manifested in the team spending future assets to add an extra first-round selection, then spent even more to move up to make sure one of those selections was Ohio State WR Chris Olave. They followed that up with Northern Iowa OT Trevor Penning.

"National guys, you find out very quickly, most of them do not do a lot of research," Detillier adds, with a handful of exceptions.
