Death of 35-year-old central Pa. man ruled a homicide

York County Coroner Pamela Gay has ruled that the death of 35-year-old man found trespassing was a homicide.

Zachary Young was attacked after he was found trespassing on a property in York Wednesday night, police said. Gay announced Friday evening that the cause of death was “blunt force injuries to head”. An autopsy was performed on Friday.

Police have said that Young was confronted about trespassing on private property around 10:25 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of West Jackson Street. That person confronted Young and then alerted a group to Young’s presence and the group ran after him, police said. The group then began assaulting him, police said.

Young was pronounced dead at 11:41 p.m. Wednesday at WellSpan York Hospital, Gay said.

The coroner’s office said Young had no fixed address but was last known to be living in York.

Police said the group that attacked the man ran away before police arrived. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
