Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes that CeeDee Lamb will be an upgrade as the team's No. 1 wide receiver over Amari Cooper, who was traded to the Cleveland Browns this offseason.

Jones revealed that opinion to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He said he didn't mean that as a slight toward Cooper but that Lamb brings the makings of a No. 1 wideout as far as "production, in the huddle and off the field."

Lamb outproduced Cooper last year with his 79 catches for 1,102 yards and six touchdowns. Cooper has a solid season in his own right with 68 receptions for 865 yards and eight scores.

However, Lamb is the clear WR1 on the team's depth chart for the first time in his three-year career. He's been an excellent addition to the team since arriving in Dallas as the No. 17 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. The ex-Oklahoma star posted 74 catches for 935 yards and five touchdowns during his rookie year.

The Cowboys' depth chart has a brand-new look in 2022 with Lamb now WR1, the re-signed Michael Gallup as the team's WR2 and James Washington serving as WR3. Washington replaced Cedrick Wilson Jr., who left in free agency for the Miami Dolphins. Washington arrived in Dallas via the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency.

Dallas still has Noah Brown and Simi Fehoko on the depth chart, but rookie Jalen Tolbert out of South Alabama is a new addition. The third-round pick caught 82 passes for 1,474 yards and eight touchdowns en route to Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2021.

Ultimately, Lamb leads the room now for a Cowboys offense that finished first in scoring last year. They're looking to build upon a 12-5 season that featured an NFC East title.
