New updates have been released from the Ithaca Police Department regarding the shooting that took place Friday afternoon. The suspect is currently on the run.

Police say that around 3:04 p.m. officers from the Ithaca Police Department responded to the rear parking lot of the Ithaca Fire Department in the 300 Block of W. State/MLK St. for the reports of shots fired.

When police arrived at the location of the shooting a witness had relayed information that the shooter had gone inside an apartment house located in the 300 block of West Seneca St.

Officers set up a perimeter around the house and West Seneca Street was closed off to traffic.

Ithaca Police, with the assistance of the New York State Police BCI and Uniformed Personnel, set two crime scenes. The first one being on West State Street and the other on West Seneca Street.

Police learned later, after following up on multiple leads, that it was determined that the suspect fled the apartment building on West Seneca Street prior to a perimeter being set up.

Police are now searching for the suspect they believe is responsible for the shooting of two men.

The alleged shooter is described as a black male between 6ft to 6ft 2 inches tall, thin build, long, thin braided hair, and last seen wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, ball cap, and a backpack. A photo of the shooter is pictured below.

The two male victims were both in their 20s and were transported to a regional trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries at this time.

Police say that it appears the two males were involved in a verbal altercation with the shooter prior to being shot.
