A Schenectady man will spend four decades behind bars for a stabbing on Saratoga's Caroline street.

A judge handing down that sentence for Chalmers Davis today after he was convicted of multiple assault and weapons charges.

Prosecutors say Davis stabbed a man then came very close to slashing another man's throat during a fight in downtown Saratoga last August.

The stabbing victim had to undergo emergency surgery and survived.

The judge says Davis demonstrated quote "an astonishing lack of remorse."

Saratoga County District Attorney says this sentence sends a strong message to people who come to Saratoga and break the law.
