The first Black woman to serve on Oklahoma City's City Council has died. Willa Johnson was 83.

The first Black woman to serve on Oklahoma City's City Council has died. Willa Johnson was 83.

Johnson served on the city council for 14 years. She also served 11 years as the County Commissioner.

Along with her service on the city council, Johnson spent 20 years as a civilian at Tinker Air Force Base.

Johnson was instrumental in the development and passage of MAPS 1 and MAPS for Kids.
