Star Wars: Pedro Pascal Explains Why The Mandalorian Removed His Helmet For Grogu

It has already been established that Din Djarin doesn't like removing his helmet in The Mandalorian. Although there have been a few instances where he had to take it off, it took a lot of convincing for Mando to show his face. However, fans noticed that Djarin willingly revealed his face to Grogu in the second season of the Star Wars series. Interestingly, Pedro Pascal has confirmed that there is an endearing reason for this.

In the Mandalorian Season 2 finale, Grogu chose to go with Luke Skywalker to continue his Jedi training. But before he left, the Child shared a tender moment with Djarin who removed his helmet so Grogu can look at his face.

Fans loved this scene and Pedro Pascal explained to Vanity Fair that removing that helmet willingly was a major development for Djarin.

“His helmet never came off. They said very specifically that he gets away with taking it off once in the first season because it's in front of a droid and not a human. He has to remove his helmet to survive an injury. So there’s a little gray area at the start," Pascal stated.

He continued, “Then of course, this beautiful relationship develops with The Child, Grogu. And I remember having a conversation with Jon, and I don't know if he permitted me to believe that it came from a collaboration, or if it was the plan all along, but I definitely said the best way for him to take off his helmet to show his face would be because he wants the child to see him. And because the child wants to. He wants to experience that kind of intimacy in the relationship."

It's a touching reason and there is little doubt that the two will have more endearing moments in the future.

The Mandalorian Season 3 will premiere on Disney+ in February 2023.
