KIRKSVILLE, Mo. —

The season opening of the outdoor water park at the Kirksville Aquatic Center is being delayed.

On Friday, city officials announced that crews are doing infrastructure work on the facility causing the delayed opening.

"We had expected to open Memorial Day weekend, but have found there is some infrastructure work Irvinbilt will need to resolve to ensure full operation of the outdoor water park. Until the work is complete, we are unable to properly treat the water," said Parks and Recreation Director Rodney Sadler. "We will open once the water levels are maintained."

Hours for the indoor pool will be extended Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm starting Saturday, May 28.

Wading pools at Brashear Park, P. C. Mills Park and Jaycee Park will be open daily beginning on May 31.

Hours of operation for both the indoor pool and wading pools will resume to regular summer hours once the outdoor water park is open.
