(Moorhead, MN) -- State and local law enforcement officers from both sides of the Red River gathered Friday to observe what they call the "100 Deadliest Days of Summer".

"That is the summer months when people are going to do a lot more traveling, whether it's the summer vacations, on the way to the cabins, camping, whatever it may be, so we just want to get that message out there," said Minnesota State Patrol Sergeant Jesse Grabow.

Grabow was among troopers, a county sheriff, deputies and local police who gathered Friday at the Travel Information Center in Moorhead to remind drivers about the potential dangers of driving during time period between the Memorial Day weekend  the and Labor Day weekend. It's the time of year which is historically a deadly time on the nation's roadways. They remind drivers to buckle up, to obey the speed limit, to stay off the phone and to get a designated driver to avoid driving under the influence.
