Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale star Sally Dexter has revealed more on Faith Dingle and Wendy Posner's unexpected heart-to-heart.

Next week's episodes see Wendy witness Faith telling lies about the Dingle family while receiving chemotherapy treatment at the hospital.

Faith doesn't currently have the support of her son Cain or daughter Chas, as she hasn't told them that her cancer has returned. As their relationships are currently under strain, Faith wants to make amends with them naturally before telling them the truth.

When Faith talks to another patient, who has her loyal son by her side, she makes various excuses for why the Dingles aren't there to support her.

Speaking about the ongoing story, Sally explained: "I think Faith wants to have her family's love and understanding on her own terms. She doesn't want them to pity her. She wants them to have a proper family feeling and love between them.

"Faith feels that if she tells Cain and Chas the truth, they will pity her rather than love her. She wants to sort things out before she tells them.

"At the hospital next week, Faith gets chatting to a lovely lady who's in a similar position health-wise to her. The lady is sitting there with her lovely son, who is running around getting her cups of coffee, making sure she's comfortable, tucking in her blanket and being a sweetheart.

"It makes Faith reflect on her relationship with her son when the lady asks her about her family. Faith finds herself making up all sorts of things about them, to give the impression that her family is as wonderful as the one she sees before her."

When Wendy witnesses this, she sympathises with Faith and admits that she tells similar lies about her evil son Lee, who died in 2019.

Sally added: "It's a nice opening of a friendship there between them. In a very quick period of time, they get to understand each other very well.

"Wendy's had huge problems with her son and they've got a lot of empathy between them, which is lovely to play."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
