A WGAL news anchor has departed the station.
Danielle Woods, weeknight evening anchor with WGAL, announced on her Facebook page that May 25 was her final day at the Lancaster-based NBC affiliate.
“Thank you, Susquehanna Valley!” the post read. “After seven years here at WGAL, today is my last day. To the people who let me share their stories, I am eternally grateful. To all of you who have supported me from the moment I walked through the door as traffic anchor, thank you.”
Woods began working with WGAL in 2015 as a reporter and fill-in anchor. In December of 2020, Woods was named as the replacement weeknight evening anchor for longtime WGAL personality Ron Martin, who had been with the station for 37 years.
Woods’ post went on to say that being a television news anchor had been a dream since childhood, and that “if there is one thing I’ve learned about life, it is that the only constant is change.”
The post did not mention specific future plans, though Woods did say that she will be “getting out of the tv news business and staying local: Lancaster is my home!”
“And as for what is next, to quote a song we all know, ‘the rest is still unwritten,’” the post said.
