NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Another Middle Tennessee Gold Star family had their mortgage paid off by a national non-profit.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to helping the families of first responders, launched following the death of firefighter Stephen Siller who lost his life during 9/11.
Just two weeks ago, the organization paid off the mortgage for the families of country music singer turned police officer Jeff Carson and five other midstate families who lost loved ones.
On Friday, the organization announced they paid the mortgage off on the home of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Timothy Walker, who was killed in 2008 while serving his second tour in Iraq. The 38-year-old was killed when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle.
Tunnel to Towers paid off the Spring Hill home where Sgt. Walker's wife Dawn and children Gregory and Madison live. The organization hopes to pay off the mortgage of 1,000 homes across the country for Gold Star families.
