Wakefield miss state finalist in teen pageant

A student at Wakefield High School has been selected to be a state finalist in the 1982 Miss United Teenager Pageant. Dilynne Byers, 17-year-old daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Paul Byers of Wakefield, will take part in the contest on June 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Doane College, Crete.

The pageant is the official state-wide finals for the Miss United Teenager Pageant.

Contestants from all over the state will be competing for the title.

All contestants are between the ages of 14 and 18 and must have at least a B average in school.

Contestants will be judged on scholastic, civic achievements, beauty, poise and personality. Miss Byers is sponsored by Bressler Funeral Home, True Value Home Center, Schroder's Agri-Business, Eaton's Floral and Greenhouse, Rouse's Super Saver, Terry's Service, Lefty's Accounting Service, and Which Craft? Studio.

Her hobbies include sports, jogging, piano, and cooking.
