Madison Miller has been a key player this year for the Coleman softball team as it heads into the district tournament with an 18-11 record.
Miller, a sophomore, has helped the Comets on the mound and at the plate, claiming MLive Saginaw Athlete of the Week honors.
During the week, Coleman split a softball doubleheader with Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart, with Miller getting three hits and driving in four runs in a 10-8 loss. She got the win on the mound, adding three hits and six RBIs, in a 13-9 win over the Irish.
In a sweep of St. Charles, Miller got the win with 10 strikeouts in five innings in an 11-1 decision. She followed with two RBIs and four runs scored in a 22-2 win.
Coleman also swept Montabella, with Miller getting the win with a one-hit performance in a 17-1 win. She followed with two walks and two runs in a 16-1 win in the second game.
Miller received 12,378 votes to overtake Ithaca soccer standout Emily Ahearn, who finished with 10,694 votes. Chesaning softball player Charley Mahan was third with 3,170 votes, with Chesaning baseball player Max Volk fourth with 3,005.
Coleman kicks off the Division 4 softball district at Montabella with a game against 22-7 Beal City at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
