Mexican striker Javier Hernandez burst into tears when asked to address criticism that he’d been a ‘bad father’ during an interview.
The former Manchester United player, who now plies his trade in America’s MLS with LA Galaxy said that it is been more than a year since he saw his two children, Nala and Noah, after separating from his partner, Sarah Kohan.
Hernandez couldn’t hold back the tears when talking about his children, the criticism he faced about being a ‘bad father’ and his battle with depression.

He told Mexican network ViX: “I would love for things to be different, they are not being and there is nothing left but to juice it up, to learn.”
"It is very hard [to be away from them]. I haven't shown it, but these two years people have said and talked about me being a bad father when they have no idea because I haven't posted [on social media] anything, so how are they going to know if I'm a good father or not. But yes I have experienced a lot of pain, a lot.”
He added: “I haven't wanted them to know about it, but they are the two people I love the most in my life. I wasn't the best partner I needed to be, I wasn't the best father I wanted to be. I wasn't a great friend. I wasn't the great human being I wanted to be."

This is not the first time Hernandez has let his emotions get the better of him, having broken down in tears in previous occasions. He was moved to tears when he had to tell his father that his ‘European Dream’ was over after he left Sevilla to sign for LA Galaxy.
He tearfully told his father: "It's almost certain that I'm going to LA. Everything is perfect dad, it's only that... well it's like the beginning of my retirement you know?"
"We are retiring from the European Dream."

Another time was when he got an injury during the pre-match warm up, he posted a video on his Instagram page of him recovering from the injury by doing some gym work. He broke down in tears and had to be consoled by his trainer.
Hernandez has enjoyed a vastly successful career after having spells at Real Madrid, Bayern Leverkusen, West Ham and Sevilla after leaving United. But his off field life has sometimes been a struggle as he tries to balance the life of being a footballer and a father.
