Regional champions were determined in the WIAA Girls State Softball tournament Thursday but several regional finals had games postponed by rain that will be played Friday.
In Division 1, top seeded Kaukauna defeated Kimberly 7-0 to advance to next week’s sectional semifinals where they will face 5th seeded Ashwaubenon, a 10-0 winner over Appleton North. In the other half of the bracket is second seeded Hortonville, a 13-3 winner over West De Pere. The Polar Bears will face Green Bay Preble which advanced with an 11-1 victory over Pulaski.
In Division 2, Luxemburg-Casco beat Denmark 7-4 and they will face the winner of the Seymour-Freedom game pushed to Friday. Winneconne advanced with a 3-1 win over Two Rivers and New London defeated Mosinee 9-1.
In Division 3, Peshtigo beat Tomahawk 6-4 and will place Amherst, a 5-1 winner over Oconto next Tuesday. The games between Chilton against Valders and Southern Door versus Wautoma will be played Friday afternoon.
In Division 4, Iola-Scandanavia eliminated Algoma 5-3, Random Lake advanced with a 6-2 win over Stockbridge/Hilbert and the Resorters will await the Mishicot-St. Mary’s Catholic winner.
Two Division 5 Regional winners will be determined Friday when Sevastopol meets Niagara and Florence plays Laona/Wabeno.
