Huntington man charged in fatal shooting Thursday morning

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A Huntington man has been arrested and charged in a fatal shooting in the city.

Huntington Police Department said a woman died early Thursday morning after being shot in her home in the 1600 block of Charleston Avenue.

Calvin Young, 34, of Huntington, is charged with murder after police said he fired shots at a passing vehicle on the street when one of the bullets struck Sheila Eanes, 63, in her home.

Patrol Officers found Eanes inside her residence, where she had sustained a gunshot wound to her head. Eanes was transported by Cabell County EMS to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries, Huntington PD said.

The police department further said Young exited his residence, also in the 1600 block of Charleston Avenue, and fired three rounds from a handgun in the direction of Eanes’ residence, located across the street.

Young is charged with Murder, three counts of Wanton Endangerment Involving a Firearm, Persons Prohibited from Possessing Firearms, Use or Presentation of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
