In this day and age of the NBA, the very best players wield power over teams like they've never had in the past. But despite the fact that Stephen Curry has arguably the most superstar cache with the Golden State Warriors compared to any other player-team combo in the league, he hasn't exactly been raring to use it.
Now entering his sixth NBA Finals in the past eight seasons, Curry's decision to leave it to the Warriors' braintrust has once again paid off. Golden State had a number of assets to build a trade package for a disgruntled superstar. There were times during the regular season that they very well needed more firepower around their aging core.
With Golden State staying the course and getting to their destination intact, Steph Curry's patience can be marveled at now more than ever. The Warriors star was asked about that following their Game 5 win that secured their berth into the NBA Finals.

Why didn’t Curry ever make noise or leverage his power to reconfigure the Warriors roster to his exact preferences?
“That’s not how I operate,” Curry told The Athletic. “There were conversations and different paths to take, and we all had conversations about going different ways. But at the end of the day, I have a lot of trust in Bob, a lot of confidence in what we’re about. There was no panic. Obviously, it helps that we had won a couple championships. It affords patience. But there was no panic in terms of getting me, Klay and Draymond another run at it, figuring out how we could get pieces around us to make it work. It’s just patience at the end of the day.”
Stephen Curry and the Warriors figured that they had enough to balance thinking for the future with winning in the present. They're four wins away from being completely vindicated.
