Memorial Day: No recycling pickup, bus service, COVID testing

Memorial Day means there’s no recycling or trash pickup in Tompkins County on Monday, and pickup will be delayed one day for the rest of the week. TCAT buses aren’t running on Monday, and the Cayuga Health sampling site at the Ithaca Mall will be closed.

Tompkins County Recycling and Solid Waste Center will be closed on Monday as well as curbside recycling pickup. Curbside recycling will take place one day late for the rest of the week.

The City of Ithaca says trash won’t be picked up on Monday, and trash will be collected one day late for the rest of the week.

Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit says their offices will be closed and TCAT bus service won’t be running on Monday. Service will resume on Tuesday, May 31. Their summer service schedule starts this Sunday.

Cayuga Health says their COVID sampling site at the mall will be closed Monday, and the Tompkins County Health Department says they won’t have their daily weekday update on Monday.

Schools, banks, and municipal offices are closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day. Many stores and restaurants will be closed or have reduced hours.
