Thursday Dirt Devil Softball Scores, Highlights

WAYNE – A trio of Dirt Devil softball teams were in action on Thursday.

A pair of doubleheaders were held at the Wayne Summer Sports Complex while another was on the road.

The Wayne Dirt Devil 18s (6-1) picked up wins of 8-0 and 11-8 at Yankton Furty. The Dirt Devil 18s will be off until Tuesday, May 31 hosting West Point.

The Wayne Dirt Devil 12s (6-4-1) split home games with Tekamah-Herman. The Dirt Devil 12s won 17-6 over TH Gold before falling 16-3 to TH Purple. The team will next host the Norfolk Kelly’s on Tuesday, May 31.

The Wayne Dirt Devil 10s (9-7) secured home victories over Highway 91 of 14-1 and 17-8. The Dirt Devil 10s will be off until the Dirt Devil Tournament next weekend.

 

 

During the 8-0 victory for the 16/18s, Hailey Schroeder singled twice and drove in three runs; Jersi Jensen singled, doubled, drove in two runs and scored three times while Taytem Ellis singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored.

Logan Miller singled twice and drove in a run; Liberty Titiml singled, drove in a run and scored; Kierah Haase singled and scored as Delaney Kruse scored twice.

Sammi Gubbels (68 pitches) picked up the complete game shutout victory in five innings allowing four hits while striking out four batters and walking two.

In the 11-8 victory for the 16/18s, Titiml singled three times and scored twice; Kylen Robbins tripled, drove in a run and scored as Caitlyn Mostek singled, doubled and drove in four runs.

Kierah Haase singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice; Delaney Kruse singled twice, drove in a run and scored; Gubbels singled twice; Schroeder singled, drove in a run and scored; Ellis singled and scored; Jensen singled and drove in a run as Logan Miller scored three times.

Gubbels (104) picked up the complete game victory in five innings allowing eight runs (six earned) off nine hits while striking out three batters and walking five.

From the 17-6 victory for the Dirt Devil 12s, Kinnley McGuire singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored while Kamden Dobbins doubled, drove in two runs and scored.

Sophia Petersen singled and scored three runs; Alivia Kesting singled; Sidney Nelson accounted for two RBI and three runs scored; Elizabeth Hix drove in a run and scored three times; Bryn Tiedtke scored three times; Reagan Heithold scored twice as Olivia Brandow scored once.

McGuire (29 pitches) worked two innings allowing two runs (one earned) off one hit while striking out two batters. Dobbins (30) pitched an inning allowing four runs (two earned) off three hits while striking out one batter.

During the 17-6 loss for the Dirt Devil 12s, Nelson singled and scored as Heithold accounted for a RBI. McGuire and Kesting both scored.

Dobbins (62) worked two innings allowing 11 runs (five earned) off seven hits while striking out four batters and walking three. McGuire (50 pitches) pitched two innings allowing five earned runs off two hits while striking out and walking four batters each.

From the 14-1 win for the Dirt Devil 10s, Navaeh Hanson recorded a homerun, drove in two runs and scored once; Chloe Kai tripled and scored twice as Jessa McMenamin doubled, drove in a run and scored.

Hadley Woehler and Lorelai Sorenson both singled, drove in a run and scored; Hadley Dunklau singled and scored twice; Reagan McManigal accounted for a RBI; Alyssa Bargholz scored twice as single runs came from Madison Olson, Sadi Fredrickson, Avery Gubbels and Kennedy Rubendall.

Sorenson (32 pitches) worked an inning and two thirds allowing an earned run while striking out four batters and walking three. Olson (22) pitched an inning and a third allowing one run off two hits while striking out two batters.

During the 17-8 win for the Dirt Devil 10s, Sorenson singled twice, drove in three runs and scored; Dunklau singled, drove in a run and scored twice while McMenamin and Woehler both singled and scored twice.

McManigal and Fredrickson accounted for a RBI and run scored; Kai scored twice and drove in a run; Gubbels and Rubbendall scored twice as Hanson and Bargholz both scored once.

McMenamin (21 pitches) pitched a third of an inning allowing two earned runs while walking two batters; Dunklau (25) worked two-thirds of an inning allowing an earned run while striking out one batter and walking four; Olson (44) was in the circle for an inning and two-thirds allowing five runs (four earned) off four hits while striking out and walking three batters each as Sorenson (14) pitched an inning striking out three batters.
