An eastern Kentucky sheriff expressed outrage after a drug bust on Wednesday uncovered candy laced or infused with THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root said the bust resulted in police seizing methamphetamine, marijuana, guns, and cash.

“We did a bust today and yes, it was marijuana, meth, guns and money but the pic is what caught my attention … These are designed for YOUR teenagers and youth,” Root said in a social media post. “For the ones that do care look at the pics just in case you see your kids with this or happen to run across it. Sickening to me!”

The investigation is ongoing with police not releasing additional details surrounding the seizure.

The FDA, in October 2021, warned the public of THC laced or infused candy ahead of Halloween after a three-year-old was hospitalized after ingesting THC in cereal.
